Report a certificate
If a certificate made with CertSheet looks fake, imitates a university, school, government body, licensing board or accreditation body, or was issued by someone with no right to issue it, please tell us.
Email a report to support@certsheet.com
What to include
- The certificate ID, printed under the QR code (it looks like
CS-7K3M-9QX2-H4TB), or the verification link the QR code opens. - Why you think it's fake or misused: for example, the organisation named on it says it didn't issue it, or it uses another body's name or logo.
- A copy or photo of the certificate, if you have one.
- Your contact details, if you're happy for us to follow up. You can also report anonymously.
If you're on a verification page, the Report this certificate link fills in the ID for you.
What happens next
- We review every report we receive.
- We check the certificate's record: the issuer name the publisher entered, when the batch was published, and the confirmation they made that they were entitled to issue it.
- If it breaks our acceptable use rules, we revoke the batch, so its verification pages show “Revoked”, and we end the publisher's account without a refund.
- Where the law allows, we may share what we know with the organisation that was imitated, or with law enforcement.
Things to know
- CertSheet doesn't vet issuers. It's a tool organisations use to make their own certificates. A “Valid certificate” page means the certificate is on record exactly as the publisher entered it, not that we've checked the publisher. To confirm a qualification, contact the issuing organisation directly.
- No verification page? Certificates are only on record if the issuer published them for online verification. A certificate with no CertSheet record may still be genuine; ask the organisation named on it.
- Are you the recipient and see a mistake on your certificate? Contact the organisation that issued it; only it can correct and re-issue it.
